Did you know that our leather cleaner can also be used on sofas as well as other applications like leather on yachts, leather on aircraft, leather in helicopters…. The list is endless!

Swissvax Leather Cleaner is a PH Neutral product that cleans leather without damaging it, with the exception of buffalo leather and Nubuck, these are very special leathers and should not be treated with any kind of products.

it is a very simple process to clean leather.

The items you need are as follows:

Swissvax Leather Cleaner 250ml or 1000ml, the bottle shown is the 250ml.

Swissvax Cleaning brush

A good quality microfibre cloth with a bucket of warm water.

Just to show you how dirty this white leather sofa is here is a picture….

STEP 1

Apply the leather cleaner directly on to the leather that has to be cleaned, making sure you do a small area at a time.

STEP 2

Agitate the leather cleaner pushing back and forth and circular making sure that the bristles get into the grain of the leather to ensure a deep clean of the leather.

STEP 3

Once the area looks clean, get the microfibre cloth ring out until damp, and gently wipe away the dirt off the leather and allow to dry.

STEP 4

Repeat steps one through three if necessary. If not move to the next area to be cleaned making sure you have cleaned the microfibre in the bucket of water so it is clean for the next section.

Here is a 50-50 picture showing how much dirt has been removed.

As you can see there is a big difference, all the dirt has been removed off the ladder and out of the grain, leaving it spotlessly clean and undamaged, crucial to delicate leathers on aircraft for example.

It really is a very simple process and the results are amazing. Like most things we always suggest to try a little test patch somewhere out of the eyes reach, this is to test for colour fastness.

On today’s market, microfiber towels can be found in all qualities. So here are a few tips on how you can differentiate between premium quality towels and cheaper alternatives:

a) The microfiber quality
Cheap microfiber towels do not have “split fibers” as the equipment required to actually “split” the fibers is very expensive. Quality microfiber towels can absorb 7 to 8 times of their own weight (as split fibers offer a far superior larger absorption rate/surface).

b) The microfiber size
Cheap microfiber towels always have larger fibers (up to 0.5 Denier or more about the diameter of a normal polyester thread). Top-quality towels, however, are made of “real” microfibers measuring 0.01 to 0.02 Denier. The more fibers a microfiber tissue can offer per sq.-inch or m2, the better the results.

c) The microfiber material
As polyamide is far more costly than polyester, cheap towels often consist of 100% polyester or only contain a very small percentage of polyamide. This has obviously a significant impact on their absorbtion rate. A mix of 80% polyester and 20% polyamide is today’s “quality standard”. A 70%/30% prime-quality mix however, will absorb fluids even better AND much faster. As is most often the case, quality comes at a price.

d) The seams
Only seamless microfiber towels or prime towels with a silk seam are recommendable as microfiber towels with stitched seams have a big chance to scratch or streak the glass.

• Super soft waffle-weave drying towel made from premium grade microfibres, large size 80 x 55 cm

These super soft piqué (waffle weave) drying towels, made of a premium grade microfibre material, were specially developed for us in Germany to dry automotive finishes. The so-called Micro-Dry towel allows spot-free and fast drying, even of non-metallic black paints and glass surfaces. You will be amazed on how much time you can save by using them compared to a regular chamois leather. Its waffle-weave fabric made of 70% polyester and 30% polyamid has a pronounced pattern which increases the absorption surface drastically. This has obviously a significant impact on their absorbtion rate – excellent water holding capacities as well as spot-free quick drying are the result. The large size of 80 x 55 cm permits the use of a single Micro-Dry for an entire car – under the condition it was pre-treated with a Waterblade.
